Even at the best of times, maintaining an adequate supply of platelets can be challenging. The COVID-19 pandemic has made it more difficult to ensure that platelet inventories are sufficient to meet patient needs. To safeguard platelet products, it is essential for blood banks to have a platelet storage system that users can depend on to meet their requirements. To maintain viability, platelet products must be stored within a tight temperature range and with continuous gentle agitation. Reliable performance in terms of minimizing service events and downtime is also extremely important. Pro Line Countertop Platelet Storage Systems are powered by AdvanceCore™ technology, which uses a specially designed solid-state thermoelectric cooling and heating system rather than a compressor to maintain the temperature. Pro Line platelet agitators and incubators have been designed and tested for long-term reliability. They also offer a range of features to safeguard stored platelets along with supporting regulatory compliance and facility sustainability initiatives. One of these features is the i.C3® Information Center. The i.C3® supports compliance by constantly monitoring the temperature inside the incubator. It also offers automatic alarm testing. Alarm checks are recorded in the i.C3® event log along with the temperature at which the alarm was triggered. This can help blood banks meet requirements to show the temperature at which the alarm activated during a test. Additional benefits of Pro Line platelet storage are energy efficiency, quiet operation, and sustainability. Reducing energy consumption helps reduce the total cost of ownership. Quiet operation creates a more comfortable working environment for staff.
