Rebates Available for Energy Efficient Cold Storage

Posted on May 07, 2024 by Chris Storey

Helmer Scientific medical-grade equipment

Helmer Scientific entered a partnership with Energy Solutions, an organization that creates transformational programs for environmental change, to help combat climate change and promote decarbonization by offering substantial rebates to customers in eligible locations for choosing certain energy-efficient cold storage equipment.

These rebates incentivize healthcare facilities to choose more sustainable equipment options that reduce environmental impact. The value of these rebates can be up to $2,000 per unit depending on the facility location, utilities provider, and selected product.

In this blog, we outline the program, provide guidance on basic eligibility requirements, and discuss the eligible products. If your facility and selected products are eligible, we’ll provide details on how you can take advantage of the program.

Note: This blog is intended to provide general information only. Rebate eligibility is based on installation location and equipment selection. For specific questions or eligibility verificiation, please contact your Helmer sales representative.

What is the Helmer/Energy Solutions Rebate Program?

The Helmer/Energy Solutions Rebate Program is a partnership between Helmer Scientific and Energy Solutions that leverages partnerships with local utilities providers to promote the use of energy efficient technologies in the healthcare market by providing facilities with substantial rebates for the purchase of qualifying products.

This program is one of a series of initiatives through which Helmer Scientific and the broader Trane Technologies portfolio take action to meet our environmental sustainability goals.

Helmer’s commitment to sustainability

Helmer Scientific and Trane Technologies are committed to taking urgent action to create a more sustainable future through innovation. Driven by desire to reduce climate change, Helmer has invested in research and development initiatives that push the boundaries of what is possible to build a cleaner, greener tomorrow.

Who is eligible for the program?

Eligibility for this energy savings rebate must be validated on a case-by-case basis by a Helmer sales representative.

Here is a current list of participating states and energy providers:

a current list of participating states and energy providers

Eligibility varies from state to state. In certain states (such as MA, RI, NH), the program is statewide with a few caveats.

In other states (such as CA, ID, WA, WI, and MI), eligibility for the program is dependent on the utility provider of the installation facility.

To be eligible, the installation facility, not necessarily the headquarters or purchasing organization, must be located in a participating state and must utilize a participating energy provider.

For example, a customer with headquarters or a purchasing department in Philadelphia, PA, purchasing an eligible product for a qualifying facility in Providence, RI, will likely qualify for the program. A customer with headquarters in New Hampshire purchasing a piece of eligible equipment for a site in Kentucky will not qualify because Kentucky does not currently participate in the program.

More states and energy providers will be joining the program in the coming months. For the latest information on participating states and energy providers, reach out to a Helmer sales representative.

Which products are eligible?

To be eligible for the program, the products must meet stringent standards for energy use and efficiency.

Helmer Scientific’s GX Solutions Refrigerators and Freezers use OptiCool™ technology, a combination of variable capacity compressor technology and natural refrigerants, to dramatically reduce energy use compared to traditional medical-grade cold storage equipment.

The following products have achieved the necessary energy savings standards to qualify for the rebate program:

How much is the rebate?

The value of the rebate varies between $600 and $2,000 per piece of equipment depending on the equipment purchased and the state of the installation facility.

Talking with a Helmer sales representative to discuss your needs will determine eligibility and the available rebates.

How do I take advantage of the rebate?

To see if your facility qualifies for the rebate program, we’ll have to verify a few pieces of information, such as the equipment you need to purchase and where the equipment will be installed.

Once eligibility is confirmed, we’ll provide a quote that reflects the available rebates, and you can enjoy the energy and cost savings immediately. Unlike other rebate programs, you won’t have to fill out forms or submit invoices for reimbursement; Helmer will take care of that.

This program is for new purchases only, so it cannot be applied retroactively to previously placed orders.
