Helmer Scientific Volunteers Help Inspire the Joy of Learning for Horizons 3rd Graders

I work with an amazing team of generous people!  In mid-July, a group of volunteers from Helmer Scientific engaged yet again with our friends from Horizons, a nonprofit organization with the mission of closing the opportunity gap for low income children in inner city Indianapolis: www.horizonsatsres.org. We volunteered a year ago alongside Horizons teachers by providing an enrichment opportunity for their 7th grade class, giving them a glimpse of what engineers and manufacturing professionals do.

This year we went bigger! The challenge was that we were asked to collaborate on a multi project enrichment initiative for much younger students. The goal: support the 3rd grade curriculum by introducing the kids to real world examples of applied science and engineering through imaginative, inquiry-based experiences. How did it go? Watch the video to find out, and look for future posts to help support Horizons through our entries into the Super Service Challenge. This is one of many examples of how our team at Helmer Scientific is spreading a culture of generosity.
