In an effort to improve processes and productivity, Helmer has completed both Lean Manufacturing and Lean Office Training. These programs were made possible by a Grant from the Purdue University Technical Assistance Program.
The completion of this training has led to changes in the manufacturing process resulting in the elimination of redundant or unnecessary tasks, consolidation of workspace and flow, and a reduction in inventory. Through Value Stream Mapping, we were able to identify areas where we can change our customer support processes and find ways to improve the flow of information and delivery of products.
The results of implementing Lean Manufacturing and Lean Office guidelines have positively impacted our productivity, as well as given us the ability to deliver our products more efficiently.
We look at Lean Training as an on-going process. We will continue to monitor our current state and look for ways to improve our future processes to add value to the customer experience.
