Hundreds of lives were touched by the volunteer efforts of Helmer Scientific grass root leaders in 2016. Supporting grass root initiatives is an essential part of the Helmer Scientific corporate citizenship strategy. When the company's Generosity mission was designed, there was a commitment to use company resources to engage people at their highest level of capability to provide aid and justice for the poor and vulnerable groups in their communities and around the world.
2016 marked the second year of participation in the Super Service Challenge, a nationwide movement to transform business through service. Joining together to serve causes that they care about, volunteer leaders gathered a team, selected a service project, and found unique ways to serve their cause. Stories were shared through the creation of a video, which was submitted to the Super Service Challenge. Funds were awarded by SSC based on votes received and presented to the nonprofit organization. In addition, the Helmer Generosity Program provided a direct grant to each service project led by a grass root leader.
In 2016, 17 service projects were led by Helmer grass root leaders, providing funds for 15 different non-profit organizations. This is the largest group of projects that have been completed since the inception of the Helmer Generosity Program. Helmer contributed over $20,000 in direct grants to support these great causes.
The 2016 Super Service Challenge project video with the most votes among Helmer Scientific stories was Mission to Ukraine. An additional grant was provided to the non-profit in recognition of this win.
