Leonce Jean-Baptiste was born in 1968 in Haiti. He lived with his family in the city of Port-au-Prince. Leonce witnessed first-hand the Military Coup of 1991 and the impact it made on his life.He attended college at INAGHEI 1990-1994 while in Haiti. In 1994, Leonce immigrated to the United States, where he resided in Miami, Florida for a year. He relocated to Central Indiana where he met his wife, Jill Suzanne. Leonce has two children, a son, Thierry, and a daughter, Ally. While married and working , he attended the Kelley School of Business and graduated in 2007. Leonce began working for Helmer in June 2008, as a Regional Sales Representative.
Leonce’s family resides in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The news of the Earthquake last Tuesday was particularly distressing. In the early aftermath of the disaster, Leonce was able to make contact via cell phone with one sister and two brother. Although their homes were severely damaged and they were sleeping in the street, their families had all survived. Leonce is an officer of the Haitian Association of Indiana. This organization is committed to establishing a foundation for Haitian immigrants in Central Indiana, as well as serving as a resource for individuals and groups doing mission/service work in Haiti. The HAofI has initiated INDIANA H.E.R.O. (Indiana Haitian Earthquake Relief Organization) in partnership with many area organizations to coordinate medical relief efforts.
