Last month Helmer Scientific participated in the 2015 American Association of Tissue Banks(AATB) Annual Meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona. At this meeting members of Helmer Scientific team had the opportunity to meet with Tissue Bank professionals from around the globe. AATB’s vision is "Promoting and supporting tissue banks and professionals, fostering extraordinary people saving and improving lives through the gift of cells and tissues."
Members of AATB and associated organizations are passionate about their work, and are committed to advancing both awareness and quality of cell and tissue donation. Services provided by AATB include public education to help families and individuals make informed decisions about donation options, as well as to promote how donations can improve and save lives. Members of AATB refer to cell and tissue donations as “gifts”, and put great emphasis on treating these gifts according to the wishes of donors and their families. Regulation also requires that great care is taken to protect these gifts, and strict guidelines are in place to dictate how gifts are collected, stored (during refrigeration, freezing, and transport), and processed.
AATB members also share knowledge and advances that improve the safety and effectiveness of transplants. In line with this practice, the AATB uses their Annual Meeting to share technical abstracts and best practices, and to recognize Award Winners. Helmer Scientific would like to join the AATB in recognizing the contributions of 2015 Award Winners (includes Annual Association Awards, Communication and Education Awards, and Outstanding Abstract Awards).
