This month Helmer Scientific is participating in the 2015 AABB Annual Meeting in Anaheim, California. AABB’s mission is to advance the practice and standards of transfusion medicine and cellular therapies to optimize patient and donor care and safety. At this meeting, members of the Helmer Scientific team will have the opportunity to meet with Transfusion professionals from around the globe. AABB’s vision is to be “the pre-eminent knowledge-based organization focused on improving health through advancing the science and practice of transfusion medicine and cellular therapies.”
AABB is an international, not-for-profit association committed to improving health by developing and delivering standards, accreditation and educational programs that focus on optimizing patient and donor care and safety. AABB Standards require that blood products are collected, processed, and stored (including refrigerated and frozen storage) under strict guidelines. AABB members are passionate about their work, and support evidence-based medicine, best practices, and safety advancements. Key strategic initiatives include cellular therapies, patient blood management, blood banking and transfusion medicine, international focus, and community and health impact. These initiatives are designed to ensure that members continue to have access to education and support services that help them provide optimal quality care to patients and donors.
AABB members also share knowledge and advances that improve the safety and effectiveness of transfusions. In line with this practice, the AABB uses their Annual Meeting to share technical abstracts and best practices, and to recognize National Blood Foundation (NBF) grant recipients. Helmer Scientific would like to join the AABB and NBF in recognizing the 2015 Scientific Research Grant Recipients/Scholars.
