For example, a hospital might store uncrossmatched Type O blood and thawed plasma in the Emergency Department for trauma patients. This type of strategy can reduce waste due to over-ordering or inadequate storage conditions. In this scenario, a compact refrigerator such as an undercounter unit is often the right size for storing a limited amount of blood.
