What started out as a passion to help others turned into a life-changing event for Justin Fisher, an engineering tech for Helmer Scientific. As a long-time participant in Helmer generosity programs, Justin’s “aha” moment occurred when he decided to participate in a program for the Mission to Ukraine Orphanage for children with special needs. While at the orphanage surrounded by boys who only spoke Ukrainian, Justin was able to find a way to not only communicate, but actually connect with these boys. He realized that his real passion was in working with kids, teaching them and helping them grow and realize their dreams.

After returning from his overseas service project, Justin used the Educational Assistance offered to Helmer employees and enrolled in a teaching program at Anderson University, while still working at Helmer. When he graduated, Justin transitioned from his 13 year engineering career at Helmer Scientific, to follow his passion and a career in teaching. He now successfully teaches advanced math at Frankton Jr/Sr High School and serves as an inspirational role model for his students.

At Helmer Scientific we believe in being strengthened by unselfishness. This belief is expressed through the company’s multiple service initiatives, as well as the employees’ generosity and desire to aid underprivileged groups locally and globally. More so it is expressed through the empowerment of individuals to obtain new perspectives and cultivate their personal vision. With these values in focus, Helmer celebrates Justin’s journey and supports his aspirations of pursuing a vision.

“We are so proud of Justin here at Helmer”, said Bruce King, CEO of Helmer Scientific. “Investing in our people has always been our vision. We want to promote their own effort and initiative to discover and then pursue their highest potential, wherever that may land them. We are committed to being a supportive and impactful part of people’s life stories - Justin is writing an amazing life story!”

The Helmer Educational Assistance program was established to help individuals realize their goals of furthering education or even changing a career path. These development activities are encouraged and strongly supported by Helmer. Generosity programs are employee led and range from local initiatives to global support for organizations such as Mission to Ukraine, where Justin realized his passion for teaching and working with children and youth.
